I’m a visual artist and photographer Satu Juvonen. I live in Eastern Finland, where fortunately there is still some dark sky. Wondering about the night sky is a passionate hobby for me, which helps me remember my place in the universe.
Darkness opens up a view of space and I can see delicate and distant light sources. I love to look far beyond time and distance. With the help of a camera, I can see more and further, even millions of light years away. Long exposures also bring out atmospheric lights and colors from the darkness that I can’t see with the naked eye, such as airglow or the faint northern lights.
I like to photograph the night sky together with the landscape. I want to include something inviting in them, to create a feeling that you could step into the picture and remember that you are part of the universe.
